ベルリン世界陸上でのボルトの衝撃はすさまじかった。100mは9秒58。前年の北京五輪で出した自身の世界記録を0.11秒も更新した。
100mの世界記録は100分の1秒単位で更新されるのが当たり前。ボルト自身、「0秒11も更新できるとは夢にも思わなかった」と驚いた。
200mは19秒19。こちらも北京五輪での世界記録を0.11秒更新した。18秒台は？の質問に「不可能ではないと思う」とボルト。
短距離の革命児はまだまだ進化の可能性を残している。
